Born in Göppingen, into a family of photographers and camera enthusiasts, Angela Mitterwald acquired the tools of the trade already at a young age and was from then on known as "The kid with the camera". Whether it was field trips, family gatherings, "photo shoots" with their friends or the first serious projects for art class - the camera was always there. Soon Angela joined other photographers as a photo assistant, closely observing "the professionals", and took first steps in digital retouching as well.
After graduating school Angela took a not-so-short detour through the sciences and went to study pharmacy in Tübingen. Between 2015 and 2019 they worked as a pharmacist in Nagold and later in Stuttgart, polishing their skills in team-leadership and interpersonal communication.
Even while spending a lot of time in labs and lecture halls and later in salesrooms and behind counters, the camera was never at rest. Angela began working on various concepts and elaborate photo shoots and shot for model and acting portfolios as well as for professional web presences. It became evident that photography was not just a hobby anymore, but a veritable raison d'être.
In 2019 Angela took a leap of faith and went to study photography and design at MERZ Akademie, University of Applied Art, Design and Media in Stuttgart, seeking to turn their obsession into a profession. While sharpening their photography skills they also dabbled in typography and print and developed an interest in performance art. In summer 2023 Angela graduated with a bachelor's degree (1,3).
